New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and asked Bangladesh to bat first.

As per most of the previous matches in the tournament, the first opener batsman of Bangladesh, Litton Das, was sent back to the pavilion on the very first ball of the inning by New Zealand pacer Trent Boult on a DUCK. Bangladesh was 0/1 on the first ball of the inning.

On the same score, Bangladesh lost their 4th wicket as Nazmul Hossain Shanto, who could score only 7 runs in 8 balls. The score was 56/4 after 12.1 overs. These two wickets were claimed by Lockie Ferguson and Glen Phillips respectively.

The start was not good for New Zealand. Successful opener batsman of the last two matches, Ravindra Rachin was caught behind by Mushfqur off Mustafizur in the third over of the inning, when he was batting on 9.

After that, Kane Williamson and Devon Conway were trying to build a partnership and their 2nd wicket partnership reached a mark of 80. Now, when Conway was looking for a big score, he was found in front of the wicket off Shakib, when his individual score was 45 and New Zealand was 92/2 after he was playing in her 20.1 overs.
