I was just checking airfare online today and found that air tickets from Delhi to Bangkok are much cheaper than the tickets from Delhi and Coimbatore. (Ref: Cleartrip.com, date 25.11.2023). This situation has now worried the tour operators as well, who are demanding the government to look into the matter. Travel companies and hotel owners have requested the government to find a solution for the issue during a meeting at the 11th International Tourism Mart held at Shillong from 21st to 23th November 2023. They said that flights to places like Coimbatore cost about INR 19,325 while those from Delhi to Bangkok are available for INR 12,504 only.
It is a myth that travelling to Bangkok is costly, you must check the cost of flights from Delhi to any destination in South India or Northeast places. The prices will show you the real picture and show that the truth here is that domestic flights are not cheaper than flying to international destinations. Further, Thailand has announced visa-free entry for tourists from India for a period of six months, starting from November 10, 2023, to May 10, 2024, which will further push backpackers to head towards Thailand for a short break.
You may get hotels or hostels also on cheaper prices. You may get a 3 / 4 star hotel in Bangkok or other cities of Thailand at a cheaper tariff than of same grade hotel of Delhi or Mumbai. Please check on various online booking platform and before booking read online review and photos of the property. Earlier you book, cheaper the tariff you get.
