He made a surprising revelation, mentioning the lack of an invitation from BCCI for the on-going ICC World Cup final and expressed his desire for the full 1983 and 2011 World Cup-winning team to attend this huge occasion.
In a conversation with the press ahead of the match, Kapil Dev said,” You called me, I came here. Unhone nahi bulaya, mein nahi gaya (the BCCI didn’t invite me, I didn’t go). As simple as that. I wanted not only my whole 1983 World Cup team but 2011 World Cup winner team to be there. But there is so much work going on, there’s so much responsibility, sometimes people forget.
