Yes, the battle has already begun for the most prestigious title of the ICC World Cup 2023. Here the top two contenders are ready to show their supremacy and witness will be the historical Chepauk Ground of Chennai. The two most eligible teams are India and Australia. India is going to play on their home ground. On the other hand, Australia also loves playing on Indian soil.

Pakistan and New Zealand have already won their first encounters in this World Cup and opened their account on a points tally. So pressure is building up in both the rival teams for tomorrow’s encounter.

ICC World Cup

The mighty home team has been World Champion two times and they have lifted this trophy twice, in 1983 under the leadership of Kapil Dev and again in 2011 under the captaincy of cool captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.  India was runner up in the World Cup in 2003 and they were four-time semi-finalists in 1987, 1996, 2015 and last World Cup, 2019.

India is hosting this World Cup individually for the first time, though they have co-hosted thrice, in 1987, 1996 and 2011, with other countries of the subcontinent.

 

India’s record in the World Cup has been impressive with a 63.09% victory. So far, they have played 84 matches. They have won 53 matches and lost 29. One match with England was tied and there was no result in 1 match.

Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, the team worked hard and was ready to win the hearts of crores of fans all around the world.

Australia

The mighty 5 times World Champion Australia is ready to start their World Cup 2023 journey and are ready to give a tough fight to their all-time rivals India tomorrow on 08th October 2023 at Chepak Stadium, Chennai (earlier called Madras).

They have a very impressive record of 72.91% victory in the World Cup. So far, they have played 96 matches and won 70 out of them. They faced losses in 24 matches and there were no results in 2 matches.

Australia

The first time they had lifted this trophy was in 1987 under the captaincy of Allen Border by defeating their arch rivals England on Indian soil in Eden Garden, Kolkata (Earlier called Calcutta).

Again they scored a hat trick in the World Cup Championship by clinching this pretty trophy in 1999, 2003 and 2007. Once again, they repeated their performance and showed their supremacy in 2015.

They were runners up in 1996 and reached the quarter finals in 2011, whereas they were in the semifinals in the last World Cup 2019.

When I am writing this Post 3rd & 4th match of the tournament in progress. 

In Match-3, Bangladesh won the Toss and asked Afghanistan to Bat. Afghanistan could score only 156 runs in 37.02 overs. Gurbaz was the highest scorer (47) for Afghanistan. Bangladesh has won their 1st match comfortably by  6 wickets (158/4 in 34.4 overs).

In Match-4, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bowl. South Africa is batting at 196/1 in 29 overs.
