Due to bad weather, the match started late and it was limited to a 43 overs. Views of a beautiful stadium with amazing views in the background. White snow on these hills in the background, giving the whole view a heavenly appearance.
South Africa won the toss and sent the Netherlands to bat first. Netherland had lost early wickets and in the 8th over they were 24/2 and lost both the openers, Vikramjit Singh and Max O’ Dowds. They were losing wickets at regular intervals. But due to the brilliant knock of the wicketkeeper batsman Scott Edwards’ 78 runs off 69 balls (10 fours and a huge six), South Africa could post a respectable score on the board and after 43 overs they were 245/8.
For South Africa, Lungi Ngidi, Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada shared 2 wickets each. Though the most economical was Marco Janson with a figure of 8-1-27-2.
In reply to 245 of Netherlands, South Africa was a bit confident to reach again on the top of the table but they have lost their first opener and star batsman Quinton De Cock for only 20 runs and South Africa were 36/1 in 8 overs. Soon after that, Temba Bavuma, the second opener, was also followed by De Cock to the pavilion on 16 and South Africa 39/2. In the next 3 overs, two more batsmen followed the same path and after 11:2 overs, South Africa was 44/4.
After that, the Netherlands smelled the beautiful fragrance of victory and at regular intervals, continued to take wickets. South Africa could add 36 runs for the 7th wicket and after that, the highest partnership was of 41 runs for the last wicket. South Africa couldn’t even play their allotted reduced quota of 43 overs and were all out on 207in 42.5 overs.
Another setback in ICC World Cup 2023, this time it was a 38-run victory of the Netherlands over South Africa.

Match 14; Australia vs Sri Lanka: Ekana Stadium, Lucknow
I could not post yesterday’s match between Australia and Sri Lanka, which was played at my place i.e. Lucknow and since I went to watch the match, couldn’t write after reaching home late. The Atal Behari Vajpai Ekana Stadium, Lucknow was the ground and Australia won the match comfortably by 5 wickets. Sri Lanka after batting first could score only 209 run and were all out in 43.3 overs. Though their both the openers had scored half centuries.
In the reply, though play stopped twice due to thunder and a bit drizzling, Australia has lost David Warner on 11 and soon after Steven Smith for a DUCK.
But the other opener Mitchell March and Labuschagne has put 77 runs partnership for 4th wicket and later Josh Inglis has batted very well and scored 58 runs off 59 balls.
Finally, Australia has achieved the target in 35.2 overs (215/5)
