After New Zealand vs Sri Lanka match, in which New Zealand has defeated Sri Lanka convincingly by 5 wickets in just 23.2 overs, the slimmest possibility of Pakistan to be come in top 4 have been vanished.

Next 4 matches are South Africa vs Afghanistan, Australia vs Bangladesh, England vs Pakistan & host India vs Netherlands on 10th, 11th (2matches) & 12th November 2023 respectively. Lineups have been almost finalized. And probably (bcoz cricket is game of uncertainty) India will meet New Zealand at Mumbai & Australia will meet South Africa at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 15th & 16th November 2023, respectively.

The championship has been full of energies and extra-ordinary records have been made and broken.

We have witnessed excellent double century by Deryl Mitchell. Ravindra Rachin in his debut World Cup has shown his skills and at the age of 23 and in his 1st World Cup, he is the highest run getter in this tournament.

Afghanistan has impressed by their confidence, team spirit, commitment and overall performance in this tournament. Before this tournament, they had only one win in their credit against team like Scotland. But in this championship they have surprised cricket lovers of whole the world by defeating 3 previous World Cup Champions, England, Pakistan & Sri Lanka by the margin of 69 runs, 8 wickets & 7 wickets, respectively. Afghanistan people will be very happy with the performance of their Cricket team. They deserve all the praise.

Timed out in cricket

Virat Kohali has completed his 49th ODI century to equal the God of Cricket, Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. Apart from skipper Rohit Sharma, Shubhman Gill and K L Rahul were also played well. Bowling department of India have also surprised with their killer instinct and proved to be lethal on the ground. Mohammad Shami, Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj have done exceptionally well. Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav have proved themselves, whenever skipper demanded from them. Ravindra Ashwin and Shardul Thakur were also good, but they could not play much in this championship. Hardik Pandya is out of the championship due to his injury.

This championship will be also remembered for dismissal of Angelo Mathews in the match played against Bangladesh, by getting out as “TIMED OUT”, this was the first time in the history of ODIs, when a batsman was Timed Out. The situation was so tensed on the field that after end of the match, players of both the team didn’t shake hands as per rituals of the match.
