England have won the toss and asked India to bat first.

Its interesting that Indian think tank was also of the view that they will bat first, if win the toss. Though this is the first time in this tournament, when India is batting first.

Shubhman Gill was not looking comfortable on Chris Woakes and ultimately he was bowled out as he missed an incoming ball which hits the off and middle stumps. Gill could score only 9 runs and India 26/1 after 4 overs.

Continuous 14 dot balls pressure ultimately forced Virat Kohali to do something different and he stepped out for a big hit. But couldn’t connect well and gave a simple catch to Strokes and David Willey sent Virat Kohali backto pavilion for a DUCK. This was the first time, when Kohali is out on a DUCK. India 27/2 after 6.5 overs.

Very hopeless show by Shreyas Iyer. A slightly rising ball of Chris Woakes and Shreyas mistimed the ball and throws his wicket by giving a simple catch to Mark Wood on mid-wicket. Woakes claimed his 2nd wicket and India in trouble at 40/3 after 11.5 overs.

After 20 overs, India on 73/3 at 3.6 runs per over. Rohit Sharma is playing on 44 and K L Rahul on 16. Rohit Sharma has completed his 50 on 66 balls.

100 came for India after 25 overs at an average of 4.00 runs per over.

 England skipper Jos Butler brought David Willy on attack in 31st over, when he thought that
spin is not working against these two batsmen K L Rahul and Rohit Sharma and hewas right. K L Rahul came forward to hit the ball over mid-on but ball took areal root and Bairstow did no mistake in taking the catch. K L Rahul sent back to pavilion on 39 off 58 balls.
India lost 4th wicket on 131 after 30.2 overs.

When everything was going as per plan for India, Rohit Sharma couldn’t kept his cool and at 87 (101) he couldn’t middle the ball of Adil Rashid and lobbed high and over the mid-wicket, ball went high in the air and Livigstone got enough time to run from the deep mid-wicket and took catch. India lost very important wicket of skipper Rohit Sharma and India now 164/5 after 36.5 overs.

In 41st over, Adil Rashid find Jadeja in front of stumps and it was also confirmed by third umpire in DRS that Ravindra Jadeja is LBW. Ravindra Jadeja went back to pavilion after scoring just 8 runs and India is now 182/6 after 40.3 overs. India is in now deep trouble.

On 183, India lost the 7th wicket as Mohammad Sami (1 run) after 41.02 over. He was caught behind off Mark Wood.

Surya Kumar Yadav was batting very sensibly and mostly tried to retain batting with him, though on the other end Bumrah was also trying to score runs as much as he can. But when India was on 208 and SKY was playing on 49, Surya Kumar Yadav tried to hit a ball over the long mid-off for six, but couldn’t clear the fence and his brilliant inning came to an end on 49 off 47 balls. This was the 8th wicket, now India 208/8 after 46.2 overs.

Finally, India could post a total of 229/9 in the allotted quota of 50 overs and put a target of 230 for England.

England is chasing 230 in the India vs England match.

David Malan and Jonny Bairstow have started well and both were trying to dominate Indian bowling. But Bumrah in his 3rd over gave breakthrough, on 2 successive balls he sent back David Malan and Joe Root for 16 runs and a DUCK respectively. England is now 30/2 after 5 overs. Bumrah was on hat trick, but batsman survives and he has been deprived of his hat trick.

After Jaspreet Bumrah, it was turn of Mohammad Shami, who sent Ben Stokes to pavilion on the last ball of 8th over, he couldn’t open his account. England 33/3 after 8 overs. On 1st ball of his next over Shami stuck again and this time the batsman was the opener Jonny Bairstow, who was bowled out on 14 and England now 39/4 after 9.1 overs. Mohammad Shami on hat trick. But Batsman survives and Shami was deprived of his hat trick.

Now it was Kuldeep Yadav, who took 5th wicket of England. England skipper Jos Butler was the batsman, who was played on and bowled out at 10. England 52/5 after 15.1 overs. Now India is on driving seat.

 Mohammad Shami stuck again on his 1st ball of new spell, when he sent back Moeen Ali to pavilion on 15.  England now 81/6  after 23.1 overs.

7th and 8th
Wickets were gone on 98 runs, courtesy Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav.
Incomplete work completed by the pacers Mohd Shami and Jaspreet Bumrah and England was finally all out on 129 in 34.5 overs. 

Mohd Shami has claimed 4 wickets, Jaspreet Bumrah 3, Kuldeep Yadav 2 and Ravindra Jadeja was instrumental in taking 1 wicket.

India won the match convincingly by 100 runs and reached on the top of the table with 12 points. NRR +1.40
