ICC World Cup 2023 Round up After 1st round of matches

So, now the 1st round of this ICC World Cup is over and all the teams have played their 1st match. In this subcontinent, 3 out of 4 teams have won their matches, except Sri Lanka which bravely played against the mammoth record score of South Africa. The match has set many records. It was a match in which the maximum runs (754) were scored in a single match.

India, Pakistan, New Zealand, South Africa & Bangladesh have won their first matches. Though in run rate average, New Zealand is on top with +2.1NRR, whereas India is in 5th position with +0.8NRR.

In batting, New Zealand’s Conway was top of the table with 152 runs, followed by Ravindra Rachin, again from the same team, with 123 runs, both scored against England. Other players who have scored centuries till now are Van Der Dussen (SA), Aiden Markram (SA) and another South African Batsman, Quinton De Cock.

Most sixes were scored by Kusal Mendis (8), followed by Ravindra Rachin (5). Convey has hit maximum fours (24), followed by Markram (14).

So it is clear that spectators have enjoyed brilliant batting in this World Cup by their favourite players. In the bowling department, maximum wickets taken by Bas De Leede (4/62).

Now this World Cup is going to be more interesting and there will be more challenges, which means more fun for the viewers. 

The second round of this tournament will start today with the match between New Zealand and the Netherlands at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Hyderabad.

When I am writing this post, the Netherlands won the toss and sent New Zealand to Bat.

New Zealand vs Netherlands Highlights, World Cup 2023: Match No.6: 09th October 2023

After sending to bat by toss winner Netherlands, New Zealand has scored 322/7 in 50 overs, in the process Will Young has scored 70 runs off 80 balls. Meanwhile, Tom Latham also score a half century and scored important 53 runs and Ravindra Rachin continued to bat well and scored 51 runs. For Netherlands’ bowling department, Van Der Merve, Paul van Meekeren and Aryan Dutt bagged two wickets each.

In the process of chasing a target of 323, Netherlands could not go beyond 223 runs and all out for 223 in 46.3 overs. For Dutch team, Colin Ackerman was successful in scoring half century (69 runs off 73 balls). For New Zealand Mitchell Santner was on fire and damaged opponent’s batting lineup by taking 5 wickets for 59 runs. Other successful bowlers were Matt Henry (3/40) and Rachin Ravindra (1/46)

New Zealand has maintained his Top position in the table by winning both the matches played, so far.
